Beautiful Blondes With The Blues

June in New Orleans is hot. Damn hot. Hotter than July (!) and you know I ain’t never lied. (Bad grammar I know, but it’s the local lingo and I’m trying to “blend”). The summer solstice is here. I dream about tropical blue water and sand beaches. Like this:
The next best place to dream is in my vault. It’s full of magnificent glittery rocks and gems, many of which remind me of the beach, or better yet, they would look good in baubles on the beach! I started digging around and pulled out this scapolite crystal I found in Tucson in February.
Scapolites are unusual and fascinating crystals, they help with problem solving, bring inspiration and give you determination and chutzpah. This definitely needed to be in a talisman piece.
It went into this necklace with a beautiful golden beryl, for personal power and compassion, and one of my ubiquitous “go to” rocks, a beautiful moss aquamarine drop for a little peace and courage, and there are a couple of little blue sapphire briolettes for truth and faithfulness.
Need a little something to “match”?
How about these babies: Rose cut champagne citrine earrings with moss aquamarine drops. Not TOO matchy matchy, just very very cool.
I took out a pair of rare tourmaines I’ve been hoarding and created these:
I’m in love with these rose cut delicate yellow tourmalines with pale blue centers. They are the most unusual tourmalines I’ve ever seen. Finished with champagne citrine and champagne diamond drops. These would look great on a blonde OR brunette bombshell. Anybody really, bombshell or not.
Golden rutilated quartz was what I picked up next. These rose cut jewels have some serious “needle” action going on inside, and look fabulous with the rose cut turquoise. I can almost hear the surf.
I brought out a couple of flawless Santa Maria aquamarines. Now usually my preference is flawed stuff, but sometimes even I fall for a traditional rock, when it’s paired with something fun like these carved citrines:
FYI: These aquas are BIG. Honkin’ big. 8 (eight!) carats EACH big. Not for scaredy cats. Just saying.
For deep sea excursions:
Inky blue iolite drops (like the deep sea!) and citrines dangle under rose cut iolites.
At the end of the day, this would be the ulitmate “blue” blonde on the beach:
